Health- it’s not all about what you put in your body, it’s also got a lot to do with what you put ON your body! I think many people are trying to be more health conscious these days, being drawn to healthy looking beauty products that claim to be ‘natural’ or ‘organic’. But it is easy to get tricked my clever marketing.
Wandering through my local supermarket the other day I stumbled upon a shampoo with ‘organic’ written on the label- but this was simply the brand name. When reading the ingredients there were a number of nasty ingredients, including a fair amount on non-organic products. Trade marking words like ‘organic’, ‘healthy’, ‘fresh’, and so on, is designed to mislead the consumer into believing the item actually represents these ingredients. It is no different than looking for Johnson’s in the ingredient list of Johnson and Johnson’s. It’s just a name, sometimes, it doesn’t mean anything.
I have made a list of my picks of natural, organic products that you can find in our store. Give some of these a go the next time you need to replace something from the girly cabinet. You might just find a new favourite!
Shampoo and Conditioner
Natural Instinct- this range is inexpensive, smells like lavender no matter what product you buy. I know plenty of people who use it and like it so if you don’t know where to start and you have a budget- start here!
Sukin- these have been around for ages. They have recently been up grading their range and brought in a really nice lime and coconut, men’s and super greens selection. Also very cost effective.
MooGoo- A fantastic range for those with itchy, irritated scalps, or dandruff. Smells milky and powdery and comes in large sizes that last ages.
Giovanni- more expensive and probably one of the better ones I have tried. It is more along the lines of a salon range, but the natural coconut based line is really rejuvenating.
Face Cleanser
Avene- this is a fantastic range to try if you have sensitive skin or suffer from dermatitis or eczema. Made with a special French thermal water, many find redness, irritation and dryness easing with use.
Kora Organics- a more expensive range, but 100% natural and organic. With a choice of cleaning gel or cream, this lovely smelling range suits the majority of skin types.
La Mav- Locally made, the 2 types of cleaning gels and one cream are natural, chemical free and deeply cleansing.

Moisturisers
Devine- 95% organic, 100% natural and plant derived, this body moisturiser smells amazing and feels fantastic. Fragranced with lemon myrtle, cedarwood and rose geranium.
Jojoba Oil Company- fantastic oils for nourishing the skin. These oils are best used at night, or a few drops under makeup for a hydrated, dewy finish.
Eco Tan- A lovely body moisturiser, smelling of coconut, leaves your skin hydrated but not oily.
Sunscreen
MooGoo- The best natural sunscreen we have! 40+ UVA and UVB protection, water resistant, without a white shiny finish. We love it!
WotNot- Thick zinc based sun protection with great coverage, safe for kids. No need to reapply every time you go for a swim, this one will stay on for hours!
Eco Tan- Skin colour tinted for face, or white for body, it’s very thick but has excellent natural sun protection. A little goes a long way.

Make Up
Eco Minerals- lovely mineral makeup including foundation, blush, bronzer and eye shadows, these guys are 100% natural and cruelty free. They have two ranges of mineral foundation powder- matte and luminescent. Use as a powder or mix with moisturiser or oil to form a liquid foundation.
Eye of Horus- the best natural mascara ever!!! My absolute favourite. Comes in black or brown, is smudge resistant and splash resistant but comes off easily with cleanser. Won’t leave you with panda eyes. They also do awesome pencil eyeliners that are smudgable when freshly applied, or dry to long wear. I’m a fan of their eyebrow pencils and liquid liners as well. Just a great range.
La Mav- An awesome natural BB cream with added sun protection. Light enough to wear every day, with coverage to give your complexion a boost.
Shanghai Suzy- Obsessed with these lipsticks! Great seasonal colours, vegan, not tested on animal and really good value.
Hemp Organics- Organic and natural, these lipsticks and lip tints are a nourishing option made with help oil to condition lips.
Toothpaste
Ausganica- a cream paste that is minty, fresh and leaves your teeth lovely and clean without any of the nasties. Fluoride free. It comes in a whitening variety or strengthening.
Jack and Jill- Great for kiddies, this range is fluoride free, and free from chemicals. Comes in a variety of fruity flavours.
My Magic Mud- this back charcoal powder whitening and brightens your smile. It has added peppermint oil to freshen breath and will leave your teeth feeling polished and clean.
Deodorant
Crystal Body Deodorant- this is a natural deodorant that comes fragranced or fragrance free. It does not stop sweating but rather stops the smell, or should I say reduces the smell. Sweaty guys running around on a soccer field in polyester shirts are going to smell no matter what you use. My partner likes this one as it has no fragrance to detract from his cologne.
WooHoo Deodorant Paste- Deodorant pastes are all the rage now, and this one is awesome! All natural, kills odour and reduces sweating. Works all day for most people.
Hopefully you have found a few new natural products to try from this list. Keeping it clean on the inside and out!
